View Online  Dear Associação Musical Suzuki de São, I started practicing with my two daughters about the same time I started my first Suzuki teacher training course. What seemed so simple to tell other parents to do at home was often a real challenge in our own home practice sessions. Sometimes I wondered if I was the only parent struggling with my children and home practice. It wasn’t easy, but home practice with my children taught me how each of them learn and gave me a unique insight into who they are. I learned from those very first years of teaching and working with my daughters how important it is for parents to have resources where they can get support and where teachers and parents can start conversations about the ups and downs along the way. A parent once said to me, “Suzuki parenting is the hardest, but most rewarding thing I have ever done.” I couldn’t agree more, and as a teacher I strive to acknowledge that reality and support the parents I work with as much as possible. Because this is such a passion of mine, I am so honored to be involved in Parents as Partners this year.
