Oi Pessoal,

Dear Simone,
I’m so sorry for the delay in responding to your email. I am also now living in Atlanta at my retirement lake home, and doing all of my work from here using zoom teaching. What a crazy time we are living in. It has taken every minute to get all of my teachers and families trained in the best practices for online learning. We will launch online group classes next week.
Regarding the book, it has always been my desire to have Teaching from the Balance Point available in Portuguese. There has been some discussion with the Brazilian Suzuki Teachers association that they would have the book translated, and own the rights to publication. However, it seems that this project may take a very long time, and the funds needed to make it happen are not readily available. If this new project that you are proposing would be a way for us to make the book available to all Suzuki teachers…and beyond….that would be great.
I no longer wish to make any money from the sale of this book. It is much too complicated to try to control the distribution and sale of something in a foreign country. I ask for Fabio’s thoughts on this as well, as he and I are the ones who have discussed the possibility of the Brazilian Suzuki Association owning the book.
Fabio, what do you think about his offer?

Dear Edward.I hope you and your family are doing well in this difficult time of this global illness. Here, we are following the safety recommendations, indicated by the World Health Organization, and also by the Federal, State and Municipal governments. I am working at home, with video lessons for my students at the school where I teach, and also for my private studio.I was invited to work in the pedagogical nucleus of a new project, coordinated by the Rio de Janeiro Federal University School of Music, in collaboration with the National Arts Foundation of Brazil (FUNARTE). The project is called National System of Social Orchestras of Brazil – SINOS (which in Portuguese means Bells …). I’m working on one of the project’s lines of action, which is pedagogical training for string instrument teachers. The general coordinator of the projects, Prof. Marcelo Jardim, asked me to indicate works / texts for publication, with the objective is for free distribution throughout Brazil, online through the project website (and with links on the Funarte and UFRJ websites) and also, occasionally, with a printed version, equally for free distribution in social projects with orchestral training.I would like to know if you would agree to authorize the publication of your book “Teaching from the balance point “, which would be translated into Portuguese, in physical and online versions, so that the book can integrate the first collection of works to be published. I hope your answer is positive, but feel free to refuse if you have contractual relations with any publisher and cannot authorize us.I conclude wishing you the best, with great health, happiness and optimism. Copying this email are Fabio dos Santos (Suzuki Association of Brazil) and Prof. Marcelo Jardim, Project Coordinator.Looking forward to hearing from you.Best Wishes,Simone
