Dear Pam
Thank you for your email.
I will take your points in turn.
The Association in Brazil has requested approval of an introductory course in Suzuki Accordion, to be offered online by Elena Enrico. This would have to be approved by the ESA region first.
I have discussed this with my Chairman and the thinking is that, since the SUZUKI™ Accordion Project (SAP) is an ESA initiative, the approach should be from Elena Enrico (SAP Project Leader) and Marco Messina (SAP Project Manager) to the SAA to request permission to present an Introduction to the SUZUKI™ Accordion Project online to interested teachers in Brazil. It should be emphasised that this is not a course which involves training and certification, but a presentation to explain SAP.
Since Accordion is a Study Group and has not yet been approved as a Suzuki Instrument Area, unit training cannot be offered. The repertoire proposed has not been approved and no official international committee has been established.
I’m also not clear on Elena’s status as an ESA Trainer, or whether similar trainings are being offered in the ESA region.
As you rightly point out, Accordion is not yet an approved SUZUKI™ Instrument and for this reason there have been no formal ESA courses.
Introductions to SAP have been presented by Elena Enrico in Italy to invited teachers, amongst whom were Miguel Santos (Brazil) and Dardo Nardelli (Chile).
Elena is a pianist and accordionist, but is not qualified in SUZUKI™ Piano – she is a B3 member of ISI/ESA with no instrument.
Elena does have a good understanding of the SUZUKI™ Philosophy albeit no formal training.
I will ask Marco Messina and Elena Enrico to contact you to request permission to present online an Introduction to SUZUKI™ Accordion Project to teachers in Brazil.
I hope that this helps to clarify the situation, but please do come back to me if you have any further questions.
Kindest regards
Sue

Subject: Question re approval of Training by Elena Enrico
Dear Sue and Anke,
The Association in Brazil has requested approval of an introductory course in Suzuki Accordion, to be offered online by Elena Enrico.
This would have to be approved by the ESA region first.
If it were offered as an introductory session to introduce Elena’s teaching ideas and student accomplishments, it might qualify for SAA recognition and approval as an Enrichment opportunity. Enrichments may not include specific Suzuki pedagogy. It might generate interest in other countries.
Please share your views on this as soon as possible. The Association expects to have outside funding to support this effort, if it were approved and announced soon.
Please share your thoughts and thank-you for your help.
